Families traveling together, along with parents, children, grandparents and other related members has become a beloved vacation trend. Resorts, hotels and cruise clubs have taken note of this trend by improving their accommodations for families and the activities for children and adults.

Cruise Lines who cater to families have added staterooms that can adapt four or more guests in one room and added more adjoining and connecting staterooms. They have improved the children clubs and daily activities, based on ages, and have improved the activities for teenagers by adding dance areas just for them.

Train Table For Kids

The same can be said for the hotels and Resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico. Many have rooms that can adapt four or more in 1 or 2 bedrooms and family suites. They usually consist of extra supervised programs for children, based on age, as well as planned activities for all members of the family, and in some areas, such as Cancun, excursions to parks and archeology sites that petition to all ages.

When planning a family vacation it is important for families to result these guidelines. Plan in advance, and depending on how large a group, try to do it between six months and a year. Ask questions and get answers for the type of accommodations you need, what is available, how many guests does the resort or hotel allowed in a room, do they have connecting or adjoining rooms and are children "free" when travelling with adults. If this is an all-inclusive resort ask if they offer children "stay & eat free", or are there any discounts offered for the family.

The programs that the resorts have for children and adults is important, you want to be sure there will be lots of activities for them to pick from. The types of restaurants, are also important, you need know they have some that are "child friendly, and that there are restaurants for adults only, so the adults can have a romantic dinner, if they wish. Ultimately many resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, consist of transportation between the hotel and resort, ask how many passengers the vans take, to be sure families can trip together.

For this article I chose two of my beloved "family Resorts, both on the island of Jamaica. The first, Beaches Negril is on a gorgeous 7-mile beach that lends itself to the many water activities available, Canoes, Kayaks, Sail boats, Hobie-Cats, Banana boats, Windsurfing, Hydrobikes and Scuba-diving and 2 huge Water-slides. The land based activities include, Table Tennis, day and night Tennis with lighted courts, Shuffleboards, Fitness Center, Billiards, Croquet, Board Games and the exclusive Red Lane Spa, which carries an array of treatments for freedom and rejuvenation.

The family groups have many types of accommodations to pick from as there are a range of rooms and suites to adapt small to large families. There are standard rooms, junior suites and one to three bedroom suites, that adapt up to 12 guests, some with Butler and Concierge Service.

Sesame street characters, are a trademark of all Beaches Resorts, they mingle with the children day and night. Other activities consist of the Xbox 360® Game Garage, a beloved of both adults and kids; Pirates Island a 18,000 square-feet water park with a Lazy River that goes colse to the island, Spiraling tunnels over 200 feet long, Arched bridges, Water cannons, Plunge pool and a pool-side grill. The "Kids Camps" are dived in age ranges, they have counselors who create activities to entertain the the kids.

My second option is Breezes Trelawny, about an hours drive from the Montego Bay Airport. This resort has an grand kids pool faultless with a 124 ft. Water-slide, an aqueduct shooting water into the pool, a fountain that sprays streams of water into the air and an expected 124-foot water-slide. There is a rock climbing wall, and a circus, which gives lessons on the flying trapeze, trampoline, and juggling. This is the most beloved activity for both adults and children. There are four tennis courts- all lit for night play, basketball, Hobie-Cat, windsurfing and kayaking with instruction offered free. Scuba Diving and jet skiing are available for a Fee. After dark there is Bubbles Disco.

There is a supervised kid's program, with trained nannies to care for and entertain the kids, who are standard from 6 months to teenagers. Room at this resort accepts a maximum of 4 guests in a room.

If you're a new parent or expecting to have children in the near future, there are ways to make your home a better environment for your family. This goes beyond plainly purchasing protection locks for your kitchen cabinets. The right floor plan and decor choices can save you a lot of problem in the future as you take care of your babies and raise your family. Here are some tips for working with your contractor to create a child-friendly new home:

Keep the bedrooms on the same level.

Train Table For Kids

Baby monitors allow you to hear your baby at night, even if he or she is sleeping in the basement while you're on the third floor. However, as your child grows, there will be times when he or she will need you at night after a scary dream or when insomnia strikes. When that happens, you don't want your child to have to climb stairs or navigate a dark house to find you. Instead, keep all of the bedrooms on the same level of your home with at least one of them close to your scholar bedroom or suite.

Beware of sharp corners in your kitchen.

Your children will fall and get hurt from time to time. You can minimize the danger, however, by development sure that you countertops and tables in the kitchen are rounded instead of advent to sharp points at the corners. Kitchens are most notorious for accidents because of all the hard surfaces, but take these same ideas to other parts of your home as well, opting for round end tables or oval coffee tables whenever possible.

Aim to please with your bathrooms.

With a growing family, the bathroom situation can get tricky in a hurry. If you have a scholar bathroom, there should be at least two others in the house-one for the rest of your family and one for guests. You should also think placing your bathrooms on multiple levels. When you're potty-training children, it comes in handy to have a bathroom very close to you at all times! As you're planning the bathrooms, make sure that one of them (other than your mater) has a bathtub. It will probably be several years before your child starts taking showers.

Create a space for entertaining.

Just because you're a parent doesn't mean that you can't have fun. A space to entertain is crucial in your house, be it a living room, a game room, a home theatre, or a refinished basement. Try to plan this space as far away from the bedrooms as possible. That way, if the kids have to go to bed, your guests don't have to whisper in the next room. A space for captivating will also be highly important as your children grow. It gives them a place to hang out with their friends that is less awkward than a bedroom but still gives them a bit of privacy.

Stay safe with the stairs.

With small children, stairs can be a hug hazard. Most homes have at least one set of stairs, and unless you specifically want a ranch, there's no theorize to avoid stairs just because you want to have kids someday-just plan the stairs with protection in mind. Make sure there's a lockable door if you have stairs important to a basement, and use rails that are safe for all ages. You should also think carpet your stairs to forestall slips and adding gates to the tops and bottoms of staircases that can be removed when your children are old enough.

Decorate rooms to grow.

It can be frustrating for your juvenile son to live in a bedroom that is painted powder blue and has teddy bears and balloons on the ceiling. While your decor choices may look sweet when your baby is still in diapers, unless you're willing to shell out the money for a makeover every few years, it pays to decorate with the future in mind. Paint the walls a neutral color and add accessories that can be undoubtedly and inexpensively exchanged as your child grows.

Forget formal spaces, for the most part.

Formal spaces, like formal dining rooms or formal living rooms, just don't lend themselves well to a busy family. You don't have to give up these spaces completely if you're in love with the idea of more customary rooms, but make sure that there are abundance of places for casual living as well in the home. Otherwise, that high-priced carpet will be covered in drool and those large formal area rugs under your dining room table will have spaghetti stains.

Just because you have a family doesn't mean that you have to totally compromise the space you create for yourself. It's all about being practical. Build or buy a house that is safe for your family and can evolve as everyone gets older.

When my two boys both dropped their naps, a moderate estimate of television became part of their rest-time routine. As a stay-at-home mom, I also relished the break and the quiet time to make supper and return some phone calls. I was always just to keep their viewing time within the recommended guidelines of no more than two hours of screen time and my children still had ample surface playtime, activities surface of the home, rainy day cooking and art projects, and playtime with their toys. I did not feel that television interfered with their lives in any way.

My two boys, spaced just 22 months apart, argued with each other. This peaked at the ages of 4 and 6. Their fighting rarely escalated into any real violence that would cause any injury. Their fighting was also not constant-only over certain, favorite toys. Everyone, including my husband, told me it was all within the normal range of sibling rivalry. As an only child, I had no frame of reference for this and found it very difficult to tolerate. I read the books, read the articles, and tried numerous strategies, but the fighting would break out regardless of my efforts.

Train Table For Kids

Part of the issue lay in their dissimilar personalities, or so I thought. My oldest son was very imaginative and would create endless stories with his toys where my younger son was more corporeal and wanted to instead move everything around. My youngest son did not have the attention span to focus on entertaining himself and relied on my oldest to lead the way during playtime. He would result the oldest around and do exactly what he did and this absolutely could be quite annoying.

I decided that I needed to maximize the estimate of time they spent playing together if they were to ever outline out a way to work things out. My oldest son is in full-day kindergarten and that left exiguous time for play once we went to the playground, ate dinner, bathed, did homework and made it to bed at an age-appropriate, early hour. Something had to go and that something was that one show I allowed them to watch while I made supper and the one show they watched in the morning if they got dressed quickly.

I went cold turkey with the weekday television viewing. They asked for a show each day and each day I would tell them no for some calculate or another. Playtime at home was extended and so was the fighting. I told myself that things had to get worse before they got better. There were moments that I just wanted to turn on the Tv and be able to make supper in peace, but I held my ground. I decided I would do this experiment for a few weeks and then if there were no improvements in their fighting, I would go back to my usual routine.

Within just two short weeks, things got better. They did not get good by a small amount. Our whole lives got good by leaps and bounds. My youngest son who I was convinced lacked the quality to self-entertain and lacked creativity made an whole village for his Disney Seven Dwarfs range out of bowls, tissue, paper, tape, the dried beans he found in the cabinet, and an egg carton. He then played with it the next day for over an hour while I cleaned the kitchen and packed lunches.

My oldest son was doing wonderfully in school both socially and academically, but was at times moody at home and prone to getting absolutely angry. He was always quick to loose his temper with his brother. Within a week of reduced television time and increased quiet playtime with toys, he gently figured out a way to work things out with his brother. His moodiness eased and his patience for his brother grew. Their bickering was reduced and I heard them talking over ways to play together and arrival up with compromises and solutions.

The television remained off limits during the week and only given as a break in the day on the weekends and then kept to no more than an hour. After awhile, they stopped asking. They knew that if it was not a weekend, there was no Tv. Within two months, I had two happy, creative children who could entertain themselves and get along for longer and longer periods of time.

What about time to get things done as a stay-at-home mom? Yes, it takes me longer to get them settled into an action before I can slip away. Yes, it takes more exertion to think of more projects or propose dissimilar playthings or toys when they are having issue finding something to do. However, the time approximately always comes when they are content, playing, and I can do the things that I need to around the house. The sound of them laughing and not the theme song to a children's Tv show has my spirits lifted enormously.

My sons have friends with video games. They enjoy playing with them when they are at these friend's houses and even ask if they can have one. However, these same kids come over to our house where the Tv does not get turned on and there are no high-tech video games and do not want to leave. They rediscover their love of train tables, play with musical instruments, and happily use the toys we have in our small basement and never once ask for the television to be turned on.

Perhaps even what is now considered moderate television viewing and the Academy of Pediatrics two-hour television limit is too much. Perhaps whole days or weeks at a time should be set aside where it is not turned on. Yes, television can teach our children how their Abc's and counting at earlier ages, but is this absolutely necessary? Isn't kindergarten early adequate for that? Is even educational, non-violent television taking away from these formative years when so much social improvement is based on play? A simple experiment in giving my kids more time together answered all these questions for me. The television went off in my house and my kids became kids again, their imaginations turned on, and the house I always wanted came into focus.

Turning Off the Tv to Refocus My family

If you're like any good parent you no doubt enjoy spending time with your kids and sharing some quality activities with them. This may consist of kicking a soccer ball colse to the back yard, going to the local park for some pitching practice, or putting some cool music on in your front room and trying out your new hip-hop groove. However, how many actual opportunities are there for families to participate together in the same class doing something that is beneficial to all involved?
