Change is constant, and right now, more than anytime that I can remember convert is happening fast. Employees who belief they would be retiring from companies are now searching for new careers. Adults are going back to school to train for new careers and to get an edge over the competition. It is competitive. And the competition is spread over an age group from 20 years old to 55 years old seeking to start new careers. There are possible employees ranging from 20-55 years of age seeking the same entry level positions with the same instruction and palpate in many careers opportunities.
After going to school and getting all of the training, who will open the door for your new career. Employers will now have varied age workers entering into entry level positions at the same time. Employers have to realize that citizen may have spent 20+ years in a job and are now entering a totally separate field because the old vocation opportunities no longer exist.

In our New America, which is what I believe it will be arrival out of this recession, there will be experienced workers competitive against younger inexperienced workers for the same positions.
In this economic rescue Human Resources cannot just focus on youth, they must think what skills experienced workers bring to the table as well. Entry level positions will have a diverse citizen of employees from which to choose. Age discrimination cannot be a factor in times such as these.
The practice of offering possible employees a background form when you offer them the application to unblemished should be eliminated. The only time a background check form should be offered is if the manager is seriously considering hiring the applicant. A background check request form, ask the age of the applicant, where the employment application does not request that information. This gives the manager more facts than valuable at the starting of the process.
Times have changed and what use to be considered old, is not old anymore. Grandmothers are not all home taking care of the grand kids and cooking. They have jobs, careers and look send to contributing and having their own money. citizen have children later in life now and still have children in high school and college in their 40's and 50's. There is a lot more of life to be lived and older Americans still need opportunities to succeed. Because lets face it, life authentically does not start to get authentically good until you have a wee more sense about how to live it.
